Most people don’t associate ice fishing with an adrenaline rush, but this not your grandfathers sport anymore. Today’s technology has completely reshaped the sport and the safety for ice fisherman and women, so let’s escape the mundane winter cabin fever and explore the other side of Colorado winters. When Old Man Winter seals in the lake under ice, the action can start and will be fast and furious. One great way to experience this are ice fishing tournaments; it’s a great way to show off your skills and earn some cash and prizes!
An awesome one in particular is the 7th Annual Stagecoach State Park Ice Fishing Tournament held on Saturday, January 6th 2018 at 8AM in Steamboat Springs, CO. This year, the event is bigger and better than last year, so take note to register early. The event is only $30 for adults and free for those under 16 that would be fishing. You must purchase your fishing license before 12/31/17 in order to participate, so don’t delay. You wouldn’t want to miss out on all the fun and fantastic prizes this year.
The adults have a chance to win a portion of a big cash prize along with Steamboat Guided Fishing Trips, gift certificates, and a brand new K-Drill Auger. For the younger participants, they will all receive a free Eagle Claw TACKLE. All anglers also get to enjoy lunchtime barbecue.
Steamboat Fishing Adventures is the only charter company in Steamboat Springs that offers their services on all three of the areas hottest bodies of water. You can choose from Stagecoach Reservoir, Steamboat Lake and Pearl Lake. When it comes to ice fishing, they operate out of the Stagecoach Reservoir located in Oak Creek about 20 minutes outside of Steamboat Springs. For the past 6 years they have put on The Stagecoach State Park Ice Fishing Tournament, and this year is going to be one for the books.
