When is the best time to fish?

Colorado serves as the perfect place for year round fishing and seasonal hatches. Catches vary by season, with Rainbows and Cutthroats biting in the spring and Browns and a freshwater salmon in the fall. Even the winter months can turn up some great catches. When planning for the day of your trip, the earlier you get started your fishing excursion, the better!

Where will we be fishing?

Our guide will take you out on the Colorado River near Kremmling, CO for your trip. Hoping to take a trip on another river? Give us a call and we will check on availability for a custom trip.

How many fish will I catch?

We cannot guarantee that you will catch fish. Fly fishing is very technical, and occasionally a first-timer will catch a fish. Sometimes it takes multiple trips to make your first catch. It is all dependent on how quickly you pick up the skills, when you take your trip and the flies you use. We pay close attention to what’s currently biting, the “hot-spots” for the river and the flies that are working in any given season.

What is included? And what should I bring?

All gear, including flies, will be provided. We suggest that you bring a camera, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and raingear. You also should wear shoes that you don’t mind getting way and that will stay on your feet.

Is there an age limit for guided trips?

We do not restrict our guests by age. Everyone is different, but generally kids are ready to learn between ages 8 and 10 years old. Kids under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

Should I tip my guide?

Gratuity is not a requirement, but it is greatly appreciated by our guides. We recommend 20% of the trip cost, keeping in mind that this should increase with group size and client satisfaction.

What if the weather does not look good?

You might’ve heard the popular Colorado phrase, “If you don’t like the weather, wait 10 minutes.” Colorado’s weather changes frequently, and the fish will be biting regardless! We are unlikely to cancel a trip due to weather, however, we will do our best to make sure that you are prepared for any weather that might come up during your trip.

How do I get a CO State Fishing License?

Guests over the age of 16 will need to provide a valid Colorado Fishing License. Colorado Fishing Licenses can be purchased at our outpost in Kremmling.
