The Fly Fishing Show – Denver, Colorado

Colorado has been a ideal vacation destination for the past 50 years, with a happening front range with the beautiful Rocky Mountains as it’s backdrop, and an abundance of outdoor adventure in the high country. The rivers in Colorado are filled with native trout, therefore, fly fishing has quickly grown to become a way of fishing in the state.  While catch and release is still the most popular way to fish in Colorado, some areas allow you to keep the fish but to a limit per person.

Located in the capitol of Colorado, Denver has hosts it’s annual fishing event: The Fly Fishing Show.  Swing by the Denver Mart on a few days in early January to meet with fisherman from all over the world and communicate on fishing patterns, water flows, bug tying, and the life cycle of the fish.  Three separate seminars will take place on January 5th, 6th, and 7th: “The Catch Room”, “The Release Room”, and “The Strike Room”.  Fly tiers will be teaching how to tie all different types of bugs and patterns; big bugs, little bugs, streamers, an nymphs.  Casting clinics will be located at two different ponds to allow you to practice casting techniques.  Also, don’t miss the class taught by expert Phil Rowley.  This popular fly fisherman 30 years in the making has appeared on television fishing shows throughout the world, and he’ll be teaching a class called “Conquering Chironomids”.  Women-only clinics will be available throughout the weekend as well, with casting and practicing techniques to go over.

The Fly Fishing Show has a fee, but it is well worth it and will properly prepare you for the upcoming fishing season.  Buy your tickets here, or if you want to take a guided tour and get out on the water, book a trip with us!
